In the era of drinking COVID-19, Healthy Drinking Act 8

Restaurants and bars were hit hard by COVID-19, but there were reports that home drinking was increasing due to limited other ways to relieve stress and anxiety. Recently, "social distancing" has been eased to 1.5 levels, and bars are getting hotter little by little as the weather gets colder. "Excessive drinking..., Thank you very much. There are not a few people who drink too much, just as they follow the bar notice.

Drinking in the COVID-19 era is emerging as a global headache as well as in Korea, the "country of drinking and dancing." The Journal of the American Medical Association (JAMA) published a survey showing that adults aged 30 or older in the United States have increased their drinking capacity and binge drinking since the outbreak of COVID-19.

Psychiatry Professor Keith Humphreys of Stanford University warned, "Home drinking is increasing significantly compared to bars and restaurants," adding, "We need to prepare for this as unemployment stress, economic crisis, COVID-19 infection, and stress from political situations are likely to lead to binge drinking."

Then, how dangerous is alcohol? The U.S. Cancer Research Institute (AICR) recommends not drinking at all to prevent cancer, and the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) recommends that "alcohol worsens chronic diseases including high blood pressure and is related to various accidents, so men drink less than 2 cups or 2 cups and women drink less." The "Guidelines for Proper Drinking Volume for Koreans" by the Korean Family Association's Alcohol Research Association suggests that men should drink less than two bottles of soju a week, women, senior citizens aged 65 or older, and those whose faces develop after drinking.

Medical circles say you should look at your drinking in terms of influence as well as the amount of alcohol. Professor Himpris said, "If drinking affects your life, parenting, or mental and physical health, you should seriously consider drinking." The U.S. National Medical Library defines △ drinking more or longer than originally planned, △ reducing or not being able to stop drinking, △ drinking makes you nervous, but cannot stop, or △ causing problems in your life, but continuing drinking is "alcohol abuse."

According to this standard, many domestic drinkers are alcohol abuse and are harming their health due to alcohol, said Yoo Joon-hyun, a professor of family medicine at Samsung Medical Center at Sungkyunkwan University. "It is important to prevent infection at bars in the COVID-19 pandemic, but we need wisdom to take care of our health from the risks of alcohol."
